The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that sets the standards for early years education in the UK. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school.
As part of the EYFS, every early years teacher must evidence each child’s development in a profile. This covers areas including creative and physical development, personal and social development, and communication, language and literacy.
Gathering this evidence has proven time consuming and problematic for Early Years educators. The Learner Journey e-Portfolio is the ideal tool to ease this problem.
Early years teachers can quickly and easily set up a portfolio for each child – a single page profile for each is often sufficient, and record evidence of learning throughout their time in nursery school.
As Learner Journey can be accessed anytime, anywhere, this evidence can be recorded on portfolios as and when it occurs, saving having to surmise an entire years progress all at once. This can be made available to parents and other practitioners to view, contribute to and assess. Having a central online repository of information means content isn’t lost (as paper records tend to be), and allows a range of media to be added, including photos, videos and drawings.
